Minsk NSC 2019
Editorial Vision by Nikita Salukvadze
Greetings and salutations,

If you are reading this you are either someone who is considering to apply or my mother, maybe both. Nevertheless, I am happy you are here which only leaves me to further convey my aims, motives and ambitions for the team in hopes of it matching yours for us to engage in some jolly cooperation in the future.

All jokes aside, I see media as a crucial instrument to channel, share and spread what we do in EYP. We have to acknowledge that our role is not only leaving virtual trinkets of joy to participants but also potentially introducing other people to our organisation among many other purposes. Consequently, I would like for us to especially highlight the "Why?" question when it comes to anything Media related. Not because it "looks cool", not because "people will like it" and definitely not because "I have seen it done on many sessions before". I want to challenge you to go deeper than that and find purpose in everything you work on, I want you to believe in what you create and never to do something for the sake of doing it.

Acknowledging the aforementioned, despite valuing knowledge experience and skills in Media, I believe ideas, desire, passion and the sense of responsibility should be valued more. Worry not if your camera does not come equipped with a professional photographer, videographer, graphic designer, writer, or anything similar. Skills can be gained, there are two days of training and it is a big part of what we do in EYP.

Think structure and also freedom, I believe in structured freedom and no Karen they do not contradict each other. By encouraging you to come up with, orchestrate and execute your very own projects, the uniqueness and the diversity of the output of Minsk 2019 shall be ensured. Furthermore, while understanding the importance of traditional fields of media, I believe that also going beyond them will further allow us to enrich the output of the event. Taking that into account, challenging oneself with outside the box approaches that may not seem conventional shall be endorsed.

Development is key, "But how does one know what is the correct approach to guarantee the maximum amount of growth one can experience as a Media Team Member?" - you ask, staring vigorously at the screen. By tailoring the experience according to your needs. "How do you become aware of our needs?" - you think as you start to pant from excitement. To which I say, my yet-unacquainted acquaintance, I ask.

It is often that we forget through the sometimes stressful hours of work and less-than-eight-hours-of-sleep-nights how much fun doing what we do is. I like you to be reminded of that throughout the event whilst simultaneously maintaining our professionalism. As one editor has probably said in another vision: "Have fun, seek purpose and never compromise quality" is the slogan we shall be working under.

Editor of the NSC Minsk 2019
